Langley Homes’ Interior Designers are constantly being asked for tips on how to style a brand new home.
The advantages of a new home to decorate from scratch means you can personalise your home and create a look that expresses your character, makes you feel good and turn your house, whatever the size, into a stylish and comfortable home.
Janet Plant, Interior Designer of Langley Homes knows only too well, what a great thrill selecting fabrics, wallpapers and colours is, to devise a look which says “expensive” but does not cost the earth to create.
“When we tackle a new show home project” explained Janet “we select a style that can easily be copied by house buyers, whatever their circumstances or budget. Once we have decided upon the theme to suit the character of the house, our starting point is the fabric. We are continually searching for unusual patterns, striking colours and interesting textures and stockpile fabrics and furnishings ready for the next project”.
Indeed when you visit a Langley show home their original ideas, inspirational colours and ethnic influences are evident the moment you step inside. This may be one of the reasons why Langley Homes have won property awards voted by house buyers for best homes from their Gatsby and Town & Country collections.
Janet added “Buyers have pointed out that our interiors have found the balance of using bold and contemporary designs and yet are suitable for everyday comfort and homeliness, not often found in show home interiors.” she added “we always use the best fabrics and furnishings to depict the quality and design of the new homes we build. Searching and hunting out bargins at designer outlets, fabric warehouses and furniture stores is on-going throughout the year. We also customise furniture, for example, a traditional wood piece used in one show home can turn up at another totally transformed”. Langley Homes have their own “Handy Andy” to hand, joiner Steve Hindson. “He is not unlike the character found in a popular TV programme” said Janet “as well as being an extremely good joiner he can adapt any difficult piece of furniture or fitting to suit the design of the room at a moments notice!”.
The four bedroom Laurels show home at the Laurels Retford utilises shades of taupe with classic cream and a dramatic black and white kitchin. “We wanted a French Renaissance look” said Janet “and this was achieved by careful selection of fabrics and wall textures”. The overall look works very well. “We are surprised at how many male visitors to the house have commented on the clever use of textures” she added.
To achieve a completely modern look the three-story Grieves show home at Fox Covert Misterton (Near Doncaster) has been styled on a contemporary theme. Dramatic fabrics and wall coverings in rich turquoise is set against a backdrop of rich creams. “We just love our line of work” says Janet “we never stand still. We regularly attend trade fairs and even buy furnishings or interesting pieces when away on holiday”. Valerie Hollick, Head of Site Sales stated that the team work at Langley Homes is second to none. “The enthusiasm on the opening of a new development is infectious. From the Sales and Marketing staff to the craftsmen and construction team, it is our aim to make each Langley home better that the last”.
